Racing

Rocky Fork Sailing Club has had an active racing program since its founding in 1964. Ours is a FUN-focused, mixed-fleet racing series – while competitive, the most important elements are camaraderie and improving sailing skills.

From early May to early October we typically host 15 competitive jib-and-main races, plus a few additional “fun” races when spinnakers can optionally be used. All races are on weekends; none mid-week. Each race is scored in two manners – first, using PHRF handicaps and second, adding an additional “skipper skill” handicap. The first is used to determine the winners of the prestigious Rocky Fork Cup for the season, while the second determines the winners of the blue-red-yellow flags for each race.

Season awards are also given for Line Honors, the winners of the Poker & Scrabble Runs, and the winner of the Shockey Memorial Race. We embrace new racers and help guide them in racing techniques and rules. And all club members are always welcome to come out and crew…we always have room on the boats for additional crew;  dates and times are found on our club calendar.
